There is plenty of competition in the graphic design market, but Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 holds its own thanks to its friendly interface and seamless mix of automated and manual tools.
The software offers everything for consumer photo editing whether you are a pro or beginner. There are some new exciting additions to the software including the 'Recompose tool' which offers a way to tighten up the composition of your images and lets you eliminate the background bits you don't want. Plus, the biggest change to Photoshop Elements 9 comes in the area of organizing, with an improved facility for keywording and managing your database of media.
The new 'Auto-Analyzer' automatically analyzes and tags media so users can quickly find the most interesting and highest quality content and 'People Recognition' identifies people in photos, becoming more intelligent over time, as it learns to associate names and faces.
The effects of all these features are that you can recompose your photos to any size without distorting key subjects, create perfectly lit shots with Photomerge technology, whiten teeth and make skies bluer, quickly retouch skin and soften other surfaces, fix red eye and improve skin tones, and use flexible layouts to create scrapbook pages, CD/DVD labels, and more.
Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 makes it quick and easy to organize, edit, create and share amazing photos with others. You can make your photos look extraordinary with easy-to-use editing options, share your stories in beautiful, personalized print creations and web galleries and easily manage all your photos and video clips from one convenient place.
All in all, Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 is one of the best out there simply because of its ease-of-use and range of features.
Adobe Photoshop Elements 9: What We Liked
It's very easy to use especially for a beginner user who just wants to edit some photos quickly and conveniently.
It has a range of features, including a new recomposition features, to make your graphic design or simple editing work look stunning.
As with many Adobe downloads, the now expanded help section of Photoshop Elements 9 is excellent, incorporating a raft of tutorials (some with video) that help you learn how to use specific tools and perform simple tasks.
Adobe Photoshop Elements 9: What We Didn't Like
The software is too similar to its predecessor, Elements 8, with little change to interface, design or features.
Unfortunately, unless you have a one-year Plus membership (purchased for extra money) some features of the help section are unavailable to you and you miss out on extra art, themes and storage space.
