With More And More Threats Stored In Searches Via Google Images, It Is Time To Take Protection More Seriously. Here We Look At Google Image Search Threats And Protection.
Busy surfers and searchers, logging into many different sites, may eventually land in a destination they wish they could have avoided. Why? Because this is a case of what you don't know CAN hurt you.
This is especially true of those trolling for pictures. As such, a popular site with a well known name doesn't necessarily guarantee safety, and here we look at why.
The Google Images Site
Ed Oswald, in a PC World article, wrote that "attackers are now using Google's image search to distirbute malware. By code injection, malicious code redirects users to fake antivirus applications." While searching for images may not be something everyone does frequently, without being aware of this risk the danger becomes even greater.
Google could be serving as many as 15 million hits a month to these malicious pages and they are in process of improving detection. Even though Google's Chrome browser blocks dangerous downloads, just as most other internet browsers do, for some reason Google's image search remains unprotected. But, relief resides on the keyboard.
Google Images Protection
Don't wait till you've got a serious problem. Anticipate, and head it off before it even occurs. Your best and strongest ally will be a robust and full featured antivirus program.
A comprehensive listing of antivirus programs will help you compare products and features. In some cases these listings, like the ones at Software.com, will also offer a great number of free, discount, coupon, and paid software options.
It all depends on your personal needs. Are you worried about malware more than any other threat? Or concerned that viruses will make your computer slow? There are options for any concern and situation, to make sure you get the right protection.
For example, one of the most common problems people have found when finding Google images is malicious pop ups. Programs like Kaspersky PURE Total Security, Acronis Antivirus and Ad-Aware Pro Internet Security are three well known programs that offer effective protection against this threat. And, with the proper antivirus protection, getting stuck in a Google Images problem will be an easy fix.
