Avast! Professional Edition 4.8 - the primary antivirus utility included in the package offers a full resident shield that protects the operating system from intruders and viruses at all times. Instead of relying on routine scans, the software proactively protects the system using a massive library of virus definitions that are updated on a regular basis.

The simple user interface lets users easily schedule updates, scans, and other integrated tasks without consuming a lot of system resources. Users can even use the convenient command-line scanner to execute specific tasks with easily memorable command-line text input. Aside from the resident shield, the software also includes a network shield and web shield.

Avast! Server Edition is specifically designed to prevent and destroy all threats and infections on a Windows-based server. This software not only protects the server itself, it also includes optional plug-ins that actively protect all server subsystems such as firewalls, proxies, and email. All of the functions of avast! Server Edition are integrated into the operating system in simple user interfaces. This software also includes 64-bit support.

Avast! Distributed Network Manager (ADMN) is a collection of powerful utilities in and of itself, providing various administrative features that offer complete control over the aforementioned software in a centralized interface for maximum convenience. ADMN is like the control panel of the avast! Standard Suite, with a user-friendly administration console that harnesses the full functionality of the entire software suite with additional features such as status reports of all avast! activity, live monitoring of all avast tasks, and flexible alert management.

When the three software used in conjunction they provide results that are second to none in the security software industry. With a host of impressive features, unparalleled virus databases, convenient interfaces, automated task scheduling capabilities and many other protective features, it is easy to see why avast! has become an industry leader in their field.

Avast! Standard Suite: What We Liked

Using the included avast! ADMN was an excellent way to manage the entire software suite quickly and conveniently.

The interfaces of each feature are similar, thus minimizing the overall learning curve of the software.

Compatible with most Windows operating systems, including Windows 7.

Scheduling tasks easy a simple process that can be done using a user-friendly command line interface.

Avast! Standard Suite: What We Didn't Like

The installation process for the entire suite can be a lengthy process, especially in computers with less system resources.
