Blue Iris - Things We Like
It can connect to and display visual feeds from multiple cameras, up to 64 at a time, which can be of different types including web cams, digital cameras and camcorders, network cameras and mobile phones. It can take screenshots as well as capture movies in a wide variety of formats. The feeds can be bundled and transmitted by Blue Iris Download to a website easily with a simple interface. It includes support for the remote control and even automated triggering of cameras based on motion. It can then send you an alert in a variety of formats.
Blue Iris - Things We Didn't Like
The processing demands of these tasks are very high and will require a beefy PC to run, this is perhaps inevitable for this sort of task but you will need to run a powerful PC at 100% to use feeds from even a small number of cameras. A limitation that needs a Blue Iris review is that the program will only run on Windows operating systems, no support exists for Linux.
