DesignCAD 3D Max v20 is not a professional CAD program and that is definitely one of its strengths. It offers plenty of features but is relatively simple to learn and use and it is very good value. You can use it to design furniture and a house to put it in. Best of all it includes 2D drafting and 3D modeling in the same application.
You can customize your workspace, templates and views if you want to and there is also a database of symbols, standard, 3D and architectural, you can import to save time. A couple of the cooler features are the ability to use multiple units for dimension. So if you are set to work in metrics but need to enter a length in inches you can. Another is the raster to vector feature. This allows the software to look at a drawing and find and render the lines separately from the background. Admittedly you need to do some fiddling but it is a big time saver.
DesignCAD 3D Max v20 also allows you to add notes to any drawing making sharing of your designs simpler. There are plenty of shortcuts making drafting easier and you can edit in 3D. DesignCAD 3D Max v20 also supports a range of formats both for import and export.
IMSI don't provide much information with the software but the website is helpful if you need assistance. If you are new to CAD software you will probably need to make use of it.
What we liked
The price! This is one of the most affordable CAD programs around and despite being low cost it has plenty of features.
What we didn't like
Comes with minimal documentation so IMSI's claims that DesignCAD 3D Max v20 is easy to use need to be taken with a grain of salt.
