Features Of The Google Chrome Download Manager

This Guide To The Google Chrome Download Manager Will Help You To Make The Most Out Of Chrome's Download And Security Features.
Google Chrome is one of the most popular internet browsers available and is designed with speed, simplicity and security in mind and it's Download Manager seems to reflect all three elements in design and function.
When using Google Chrome, downloads can be viewed by using the download bar or opening the Download Manager in a new tab. The download bar is a small bar which will show up across the bottom of the browser page when something is being downloaded. It indicates what type of file is being downloaded, the name of the download and the remaining time left. This bar will show multiple downloads, and there is also an option to open the Download Manager in a new tab or page to view current and past downloads.
To view the more detailed Google Chrome Download Manager page, users can manually select "Downloads" in the window, or press ctrl+j and it will open in a new tab. This page displays (from left to right):
- The date for each download
- An image of the type of file downloaded (eg Word document, .pdf, video etc)
- The name of the file
- The web address it was downloaded from
- Options to see the download in a folder or remove from the Download Manager list
While this download manager is secure and often results in faster downloads, the simplicity of it has lead to criticism that it is more of a download viewer when compared to the download managers in browsers like Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer. Users often complain that there is no "resume download" option and that it does not feature the smaller viewing window that more established download managers open when a new download is started.
If users are not happy with the simplicity of Google's design, but still want to use Chrome for browsing, is to find a download manager that can be used with Chrome, such as Internet Download Manager, which is featured in the video below.
Some people may like the overall features of Chrome, including the download manager, while others may want a more familiar way to manage their internet downloads. The important thing is to find a solution that works, so you can get the best out of your browser and download manager.
