When it comes to sharing images online there are many different options to choose from. But with so many people opting to use Microsoft Windows Live services, it makes sense to take an in depth look at photo sharing options with Windows Live SkyDrive and Windows Live Photo Gallery.
These two services make it easier to share photos publicly and privately online, while also storing them so they don't clutter up your hard disk or camera. To get a better idea of how to use Windows Live image sharing, both Photo Gallery and SkyDrive options are explained below.
Using Windows Live Photo Gallery
Windows Live Photo Gallery is a free image viewing and editing program that provides photo tools to create stunning panoramas, movies, slide shows, and sharper everyday photos. The easy-to-use editing tools also allow you to edit dozens of photos at the same time so that you can clean up photos and share them as quickly as possible.
Windows Live Photo Gallery also makes it easy to publish photos and videos directly to online services like SkyDrive, as well as social networking services including Facebook and YouTube. The compatibility with Skydrive makes it particularly convenient to use both programs for free image sharing.
Uploading Images To SkyDrive
As one of the most popular free online sharing services currently available, SkyDrive has been designed for easy use and storage. Users also get 25GB of storage for free, which means a lot of images can be kept on the service at any given time.
Once photos have been edited with Photo Gallery it is a simple process to upload the photos to SkyDrive and choose sharing options. Uploading photos can be done using the following steps:
- Login with your Windows Live ID and go to SkyDrive
- Click on the Photos link
- Click "Create album" , name the album, choose permissions for it, and then click "Next"
- Using the Windows Live Upload Tool drag and drop the photos to be uploaded, then click "Upload"
If you do not have the Windows Live Upload Tool you can download and install it by clicking on the relevant link within SkyDrive. Otherwise you can manually upload five photos by clicking "Browse", selecting a photo to upload and clicking "Upload".
Once the photos are stored on SkyDrive you can create public folders or customizable online slide shows of your photos. There are also slide show themes to choose from and options for comments and tags so that the photo memories can be shared by everyone.
Using these Windows Live services makes image sharing easy and convenient. Photo editing can become a quick and simple task, which means more time to share and enjoy the memories.
