Norton AntiVirus 2010 with Anti-Spyware - 50% Off for a Limited Time for USA Students*

Following on the success of the Norton 2009 release, Symantec has made an ongoing commitment to delivering security products that are fast and light. The Norton 2010 products have maintained an eye on performance, in spite of adding significant new protection technology to the release.

Norton AntiVirus 2010 with Anti-Spyware the very uniqueness of a file and its attributes is what helps us identify it as new malware. More than three years in the making, Quorum tracks files and applications and dozens of their attributes such as their age, download source, digital signature, and prevalence. These attributes are then combined using complex algorithms to determine a reputation. As a file is distributed across the Internet and these attributes change, Quorum updates the reputation of the file. This reputation is especially important when a file is new, likely to be a threat, and traditional defenses are not likely to detect it.

The Norton Insight family of technologies in the new 2010 products uses extensive online intelligence systems to proactively protect the PC and keep users informed of the security and performance impact of files and applications that they encounter in their everyday online experience.

Norton Download Insight - Uses extensive online intelligence systems leveraging reputation to proactively protect your PC. Analyzes and reports on the safety of new files and applications before users install and run them.

Norton System Insight - Provides features and easy-to-understand system information to help keep PCs performing at top speed. Automatic and on-demand application optimization rejuvenates application performance. Provides a view of recent events on the computer, providing the information required to research and analyze PC issues. Performance graphs help pinpoint what's causing a computer to slow down.

Norton Threat Insight - Provides details on threats that have been detected on your PC - including useful information on where it came from (the URL) and when it was initially encountered.

Norton Insight Network - Leverages a cloud-based approach unique to Symantec. Based on the Quorum technology, it takes cloud-based security beyond traditional blacklists and whitelists. It uses a statistical analysis of file attributes based on billions of scans on millions of computers to identify the trust level of a file. This way Norton can identify files to be trustworthy or untrustworthy that would otherwise fall into the grey area of the unknown with only traditional security methods.

SONAR 2 - Sophisticated second-generation behavioral security technology that detects entirely new threats based on their suspicious actions, without the need for traditional fingerprints. Leverages data from the reputation cloud, firewall, network communications (IPS), and file attributes such as location on the PC, origin information, etc., to decide when to detect a program as a threat.

Norton AntiVirus 2008
Great Warning System I downloaded this program the other night as part of the 2009 Norton Security System package. Symantec seem to have made several improvements to the software. Apart from the fact you have to completely reload Norton, as it will not update older versions, the installation was reasonably straight forward after I had ironed out a few problems with the package as a whole. One of the best improvements is a large box which appears on the toolbar at the bottom of Windows. If your virus definitions are not up to date a large red cross appears until you have used live update, at which point it turns to a green tick. It is easy enough to adjust the settings to automatically download updates but, if for any reason, users did not want to take this option I thought it was a great alert to the fact your system could be at risk. Other than the graphics and interface updates the 'under the bonnet' program seems to be much the same but does have a greater sensitivity to risks as it managed to pick up some tracking cookies on my system, which it classed as very low threats. I found this quite impressive! Well done Norton, another great product! Rating 5 out of 5

Norton AntiVirus 2009
"Norton" is still number one on my list! Using multiple computers and referring clients, Norton AntiVirus is my first and only recommendation. The entire year of 2009 I know I am going to be satisfied once again. Every year problems seem to get worse and worse in the industry of people trying to use viruses, hacks, etc. Norton is always up to date and is always prepared for the quickest response to catching the hidden!

Norton AntiVirus 2008

The name Norton is almost synonymous with the word Virus, and for most people is the top antivirus software, mainly because of the huge amount of advertising they receive. The fact remains that, in this case, the hype is true. Norton Antivirus is, and has been for many years, the best antivirus software available. The main reasons are that the company behind it, Symantec, is a huge organization, and as such has the money and employees to ensure their research and technology is second to none.

In the IT world they are to security software as Microsoft is to operating systems. This guarantees updates are nearly always available as soon as new virus's are detected. A must for all serious computer users. Secondly, the software itself is easy to use and brilliantly designed. Once up and running it works silently, protecting your computer 24/7. It does not take over all your resources like some software can, and is unobtrusive until its really needed. The 2008 version is a step up from previous versions, but still includes all the elements we have come to rely upon. No matter what you are doing, surfing the web, downloading files or simply sending email, you be safe in the knowledge that Norton is protecting you.

Norton AntiVirus 2009

Norton is the original and still the best! I've been using Norton Antivirus since it first came out, and it has never failed to do it's job. This latest incarnation is no different. Sure, other software has neat bells and whistles, but Norton sits in the background and quietly does it's thing, which is all I want.

It is not, in my opinion, worth going any farther with Norton security products. I love NAV but Internet Security is not worth the hassle. If you want a decent firewall, I suggest ZoneAlarm and a proper compliment to this awesome antivirus product.

Norton AntiVirus 2008

My choice number one for last 7 years is Norton AntiVirus. It has kept me safe for all this time, no viruses have got in my PC even browsing worst place on the Internet and downloading files from unknown sources. Fast and easy automatic everyday updates, PC resource friendly, user friendly and fast in action.

Every year before updating to newer anti virus software version I have tested at least 5 other products. Main things I look for is: Easy to install and manage, user friendly interface PC resource friendly Regular and fast automatic updates No interruptions while installing updates Good background full system scan Fast solutions for new threats This year I also compared NAV 2008 to alternative products including free anti virus solutions. I still find it better than any other product, because: I have very good experience with it.

Comparing to other products it is more resource friendly Faster in action but best of all it's totally free if you download it online or you know somebody who owns a copy of a lower version then update it I highly reccomened this software for you unless you have a slow computer. From my personal point of view, this is one of best choices and regarding my experience I suggest it for everyone, probably if it has kept me safe (as I mentioned It will keep safe You, too. Of course, there are cheaper and even free solutions, like AVG it's also a reliable software as well.

Norton AntiVirus 2008

Install it once and don't worry for a year.

The thing I like most Norton products is that they are fire-up and forget. I load the program onto my computer and I don't think about viruses again for the next year. Maybe I'll see a news report on viruses or something, but I just think "That doesn't really apply to me". Maybe I'll catch my computer doing its weekly scan and remember that I'm protected but my favourite thing is not worrying at all. Viruses are a nuisance that cause way more worry than they're worth so if I don't ever have to bother with them Norton is worth it to me. 5 out of 5 Stars
