PaperPort Professional 12 gives users the ability to convert all of their paper documents into digital files with a minimal amount of time and ink wasted. All documents that are scanned using PaperPort are converted into fully functional and searchable documents. Users can scan photos, contracts, invoices, forms, and any other paper documents, and then easily access it on their computer and share it via the internet.

Perhaps the most noticeable improvement in PaperPort Professional 12 is the dramatically enhanced user interface. Nuance has taken the liberty of matching the new Windows 7-like "ribbon" functionality that has also been adopted by Microsoft Office and several other user-friendly software titles. These new ribbon menus are both conveniently accessible and much easier to use due to their visually appealing tabbed design. The developers have also added a Scan Now button to make scanning a document a simple one click process that can be executed from any part of the user interface.

The developers have also boosted the speed at which files are scanned by more than 5 times the previous edition. PaperPort 12 can convert scanned documents into fully functional PDF files instantly without the need for extra applications such as PDF viewers. In fact, PaperPort Professional 12 comes with its very own PDF viewer.

PaperPort Professional 12 includes a plethora of document management and organization features as well. Files can be organized based on file content, which is indexed using revolutionary Nuance optical character recognition technology. PaperPort Professional 12 integrates with Microsoft SharePoint on three levels, even letting users execute drag and drop file transfers to and from Sharepoint.

Aside from the standard PDF viewing and conversion tools, the software also provides comprehensive PDF editing capabilities, including detailed annotations, and transparent/dynamic document stamps. Within the advanced PDF Viewer Plus utility the user can even edit a specific image within a PDF file and make additional enhancements using the new Scanning Enhancement Technology. When all of the new features and the enhanced user interface are considered, it is easy to see why PaperPort Professional 12 is the leading document management and scanning software for Microsoft Windows.

Scanning a document is as simple as a click of the mouse, as is editing and converting the resulting digital files.

The user can now greatly control the file size and quality of the scanned document.

Scan times are more than five times faster than the previous version.

Scan accuracy has been improved upon as the already revolutionary OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology has been improved by 40%.

With such an extensive feature list, it may take a while to master each one.
