There's great new things to try in Creative Suite 5, the latest in the venerable Creative Suite family from Adobe Software.

Creative Suite 5 is the latest version of the venerable video, audio, print, web and multimedia design software package from Adobe Software, released in April, 2010. It replaces 2008's Creative Suite 4 and includes many major upgrades and changes, including tighter integration among the different applications, many new tools, and most importantly for power users, native 64-bit performance for all users with 64-bit capable Vista, Windows 7 or Mac OS X machines. This ensures limited clog on your PC from what is a pretty resource hungry software download.

The New Creative Suite 5

Users have a choice of five different versions of Creative Suite 5 to choose from, depending on their needs. All the packages include Adobe Bridge, which allows for management of files among the different applications, Adobe Device Central, which allows for cross-platform development of content for mobile phones and consumer electronics devices, and access to Adobe CS Live online services, including CS Review and ConnectNow for collaborating on projects and delivering feedback, and BrowserLab for website testing and debugging.

Design Standard

Design Standard is the smallest package in Creative Sutie 5 and contains the core graphic design programs:

• Adobe Photoshop CS5 - This is the core image editing software which allows users to manipulate photographs or create complex photo-realistic illustrations of their own. New features include the ability to create HDR images, and dozens of other powerful new tools and time-savers.
• Adobe Illustrator CS5 - Vector image editing and creation software, which allows for precise text handling and manipulation, page and logo design, and direct export to Flash for multimedia animation. The newest version incorporates more robust 3D tools as well as greater control over perspectives.
• Adobe InDesign CS5 - Designed for creating multi-page documents, InDesign is equally suited to creating PDF documents as it is paper documents. Whether you're creating a eBook for your grandkids or an annual report for your business, the latest version of InDesign allows for multiple page sizes within the same document as well as enhanced master page management.
• Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro - PDF creation tools made simple. Create and digitally sign documents, integrate content, add logos, define navigation. Create interactive forms or share and collaborate on documents

Design Premium

Design Premium is for the designer who dabbles in a little bit of everything. It includes Illustrator CS5, InDesign CS5, and Acrobat Pro 9 plus:

• Photoshop CS5 Extended - All of the tools of Photoshop with additional 3D tools, painterly effects and better selection abilities.
• Flash Catalyst CS5 - Transforms Photoshop and Illustrator files into high-quality interactive content for web or mobile applications without any code.
• Flash Pro CS5 - Interactive and multimedia authoring software for the web, PCs and mobile devices. Featuring a new text engine which allows for better text styling, multiple columns, better text layout control and tighter integration with InDesign. Work faster with extensible code snippets in the ActionScript language
• Dreamweaver CS5 - Web design and development software. Allows the user to simultaneously work with code and visually to create standards-based sites and interact with other content management systems like WordPress, Joomla and Drupal. Allows for easy fine tuning of CSS and PHP and JavaScript and other advanced features as well as templates for the novice.
• Fireworks CS5 - A favorite among web designers for creating graphics optimized for screen and web use, Fireworks allows for easy integration with Photoshop and Illustrator and export to AIR, Flash, HTML and CSS.

Web Premium

Web Premium is the Creative Suite 5 package that is targeted at web designers and the applications in the package are consistent with that: Illustrator CS5 Acrobat Pro 9, Photoshop CS5 Extended, Flash Catalyst CS5, Flash Pro CS5, Dreamweaver CS5, Fireworks CS5

• Flash Builder 4 - A development tool to create rich internet applications using Flex, to integrate with servers and other services, including ones based on SOAP, Adobe ColdFusion, PHP, Java and REST. It replaces Adobe Flex Builder.
• Contribute CS5 - WYSIWYG web site management software, which allows users to collaborate to update site content, including text, images, rich media and interactive multimedia. New features include a drag-and-drop interface for Flash and PDF files, in-browser text editing, and CSS styling for individual authors.

Production Premium

Creative Suite 5 Production Premium is aimed more at multimedia authors and designers and, like other packages, contains Illustrator CS5,  Acrobat Pro 9, Photoshop CS5 Extended, Flash Catalyst CS5, and Flash Pro CS5. In addition, it comes with

• Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 - A full digital video production environment, featuring the new Mercury playback engine, which it speeds up performance and rendering of video. Adobe maintains a list of compatible video cards. Import fully rendered video sequences directly from Photoshop and collaborate with Avid and Final Cut Pro with ease.
• Adobe After Effects CS5 - Add high resolution motion graphics and special effects to your video projects. Now work in both high-definition and with the speed of 64-bit performance
• Adobe Soundbooth CS5 - Professional quality audio editing for creating soundtracks and editing audio files for your multimedia projects. The multitrack environment has been improved to allow greater creative control, and the handy speech to text function is searchable, too.

• Adobe OnLocation CS5 - Manage your shot lists, analyze your footage on-site, and master your production with these handy tools. The new Turbo Comments feature lets you customize macros for frequently used information

• Adobe Encore CS5 - Software for ripping DVDs and Blu-ray discs. New to this version are full HD mode, easy sharing between Mac and Windows machines, and multipage menus.

Adobe Master Collection

The Master Collection contains all of the applications, with the exception of the more basic version of Photoshop CS5 being excluded.
