A guide to Adobe CS5 titles and upgrade prices. Working out prices for Adobe upgrades is pretty complicated depending on your existing version.

At the time of release in June 2010, approximate prices for full versions of the Adobe CS5 editions were:

Design Premium - $1,900
Design Standard - $1,300
Web Premium - $1,800
Production Premium - $1,700

Working out the price for an Adobe CS5 upgrade is pretty complicated depending on your existing version. Roughly you can expect to pay 30% of the list price if you have CS4, an extra 30% of that if you have CS3 etc. Owners of CS2 will still save, but only about 30%. Owners of other CS Suites (e.g. if you own CS 4 Design and want Web) pay roughly the same schedule as above for a CS5 upgrade.

Industry professionals are used to paying the hefty price for these standard bearers of the visual design and web community. There's many lauded bells and whistles in the new feature set, particularly in the Design Suite and Photoshop CS5, but for most the burning hole in their pocket can be consoled by the knowledge that a CS5 launch is a special event with a little sting in its tail should you wish to get that CS5 upgrade!
