A guide to the two versions of TaxACT software and who should use them.
2nd Story Software specializes in tax preparation software development, and is best known for its product TaxACT. One of the main reasons why TaxACT software has become so popular is its availability in many different formats. The two main versions of this software (which are available both web based and as a download) include:
- TaxACT Ultimate (with Federal State and e-File)
- TaxACT Ultimate Online
- TaxACT Deluxe (without State)
- TaxACT Deluxe Online
Each one of these programs offers a unique level of features, and is geared towards a specific audience based on their wants and needs.
Taxact understands the importance of offering both web based and desktop versions of TaxACT software. If you want to complete your return online, you should focus on TaxACT Online Deluxe Federal which comes with e-file, and the Ultimate version with Federal, State and e-file. At the time of writing, the Deluxe version is available for under $10, with the Ultimate version costing under $20. If you pay more for the Ultimate version you gain the ability to file both your federal and state return online.
If you would rather use software, as opposed to a web based version, the same editions are available. The only difference being that you will pay $12.95 and $19.95, respectively (at the time of writing).
Taxact Software was founded in 1998, and has been offering tax preparation software since day one. TaxACT is well known across the industry for its competitive pricing, no non-sense preparation process, and reliability.
