Built from the ground up with Quicken's ultra-powerful financial management systems, Medical Expense Manager is an all-purpose medical expense tracking and management tool.

Designed with the ease of use that's become a trademark characteristic of Quicken products, Medical Expense Manager features a simple user interface and recording tools. Medical expenses can easily be tracked using a range of customizable input fields. Users can quickly input healthcare provider information, expenses, insurance information, and whether or not the treatments have been paid for.

Tracking reimbursements is relatively simple in Medical Expense Manager. Using a similar interface to other Quicken products, Medical Expense Manger allows users to simply input insurance provider data, billing information, and write-off information. Insurance letter templates are included, along with a range of templates for medical expense tracking, company contact, and other medical-related situations.

Unfortunately, there are some major performance issues with Medical Expense Manager. While the interface favors quick input and simple operation, the software installation itself is relatively bloated. Users with high-end PCs still experience noticeable performance problems, and a number of issues arise for Vista users with recent .NET framework.

While these performance issues can be quite major, Intuit have kept up with user issues and released a range of patches and updates for Medical Expense Manager. Compatibility with Windows 7 is vastly improved from previous versions, and recent updates have dramatically improved software performance. Despite the significant improvements in performance, some users still report issues with partial page loading, sluggish processing, and all-round poor performance.

As a valuable expense tracking program, Medical Expense Manager stacks up. However, with performance issues affecting a large range of PC users, and some major compatibility issues under Windows Vista, users without high-end PCs might be best off looking for alternative options to Quicken Medical Expense Manager.
