Spend the Extra $25.00 and get the Quicken Deluxe Edition
To be honest I do not even know why Quicken offers this version at all. There are many free programs, which have more features than this version does. It is about the same as Microsoft offering a starter edition of Windows where you only get to write in notepad and that is it. In my opinion, I would just spend the extra $25.00 and get the deluxe version. I have to give this particular version of Quicken a 2 out of 5 star rating just because of the fact that it does not really give useful enough features to warrant its $24.00 price tag.

Great for beginners
Now this is something I think a lot of beginners would love to experience. I didn't have a problem with installation, which is common at times with Quicken products, and I found that this is exactly what it intended to live up to in its title: Starter Edition. Many beginner programs are the exact opposite, but I would recommend this to any beginner that wants to utilize financial management software.

Could have been better
Quicken 2008 Starter Edition is just what it says, a starter edition. This is a good program for small financial management. I did notice that sometimes the calculations go awry. When you are expecting a program to correctly calculate your money, you should not have to check behind it. However, it is wonderful for keeping up with tax deductible items. The reports can be tricky, but once you get the hang of it, they are not all bad. If you truly want a better program, go ahead and purchase a more advanced edition like Deluxe.
