The latest edition of Reallusion's popular animation application, CrazyTalk 6 Standard offers significant improvements over its predecessors. A voice and character creation tool, CrazyTalk allows anyone from professional digital animators to home users to create thrilling and zany characters, assign custom voices to them, and digitally animate them for realistic speech and body language.

CrazyTalk has been available for a long time and has remained popular through many versions and iterations. Version 6 offers a range of large improvements from previous versions, including significantly more fluid and natural animations, a wider range of animation options and customization tools, and ultra-simple beginner menus. Despite the simplicity for new users, CrazyTalk 6 Standard includes an in-depth editor for power users and professional animators.

A major barrier for animation software to overcome is the learning curve. While 3D animation applications are often highly powerful, their interfaces can be jumbled and difficult to use, making them a poor choice for beginner animators and home users. CrazyTalk overcomes this problem by including two different interfaces - a menu and wizard driven interface for new users, and a full application interface for tweaking and micro-editing animations.

While CrazyTalk doesn't contain its own text-to-speech engine, it draws voices from the built-in Windows TTS engine. Voice content is input directly into CrazyTalk 6, and users can edit the voice dynamics entirely in the software interface. With options for controlling voice speed, pitch, and timbre, CrazyTalk 6 allows users to easily modify and manipulate the standard built-in voices to create a wide range of different characters.

Of course, most home users will be interested in creating digital versions of themselves. Thanks to CrazyTalk 6's built-in webcam support, it's very simple to capture a single image from your own webcam and use it as the basis for a new character. For full-body character animation, users can import digital images, allowing them to easily create full-body animation wireframes and facial detailing.

CrazyTalk 6 installs easily, and requires very little tweaking for everyday use. While professionals may find themselves limited by the interface, which certainly isn't as detailed as Poser or other leading 3D tools, home user will feel completely comfortable using CrazyTalk 6 Standard as their default animation suite.
