Do I have to File a Tax Return Electronically?
25 Jan
Information on filing a tax return electronically.
There is no denying that more and more people are filing their tax return electronically. Does this mean you have to follow suit? Right now, the answer is no. There is no mandate from the IRS saying that you have to electronically file your return. Instead, you can send a paper return if you so desire.
Of course, there are benefits and reasons to file electronically. Above all else, this will improve your chance of a return that is 100 percent accurate. Along with this, you never have to worry about your return getting lost in the mail since you are sending it securely via the internet.
Don’t overlook the fact that filing electronically allows you to quickly receive any applicable refund. By filing online and opting for direct deposit you should receive any refund within 10 to 14 business days, at the most.
Do I even need to file a tax return? Generally speaking, the answer to this question is always yes. Of course, there are some people who don’t have to file based on their filing status, age, and/or income. That being said, even if you don’t have to file you may want to – this is the only way to receive a refund.
In closing, you don’t have to file a tax return electronically but it is a great idea for many reasons.
