Get a Faster Tax Refund by Filing Electronically With IRS e-File
27 Jan
Here are some important reasons to consider IRS e-File when doing your tax return.
When it comes time to file your tax return you have two options: file electronically or with the traditional paper method. Either way works, but with one you are in position to receive your tax refund (if applicable) much faster. By filing electronically, you can have your refund in hand sooner rather than later.
No matter how you opt to file your taxes, you can choose to have your refund direct deposited into your bank account or a paper check sent to your home. If you are in a hurry to receive your refund, you should use the e-file, direct deposit option. With this, you can have your refund within 14 days at the most. If you e-file, but choose to receive a paper check, it can take up to three weeks.
What about if I file a paper return? This is when your refund can really get held up. Remember, it takes time for your return to make its way to the IRS. From there, it has to go through their processing system.
If you file a paper return and opt to receive a check, it will take four to six weeks for your refund to arrive. You can speed this up a bit by choosing direct deposit. In this case, you should have your money within four weeks.
Simply put, if you want to receive your tax refund as fast as possible you should opt to file your return online.
