Tax Software Selection
28 Jan
Three steps to follow as you select and buy tax software.
It is one thing to decide to use tax software to file your return. It is another entirely to choose the program that is right for you. Remember, the tax software industry is growing and you have more options today than ever before. Do you know which software application is best for you and your tax situation? Follow these steps to ensure yourself of making the right decision.
1. Compare your many options. From free tax software to business tax software, you are going to have at least 10 tax software options to choose from. As you compare the details, pros, and cons, you will find that some are better than others.
2. Rely on tax software that most closely relates to your situation. For example, if you have one W-2 and no deductions or credits, you can probably use free tax software. On the other hand, if you own a business and have a complicated return you will want to turn to a program such as TurboTax Business from Intuit.
3. Read reviews. What are others saying about the tax software you are thinking about buying? In addition to professional tax software reviews written by those with knowledge of the industry, see what other consumers are saying.
If you follow these three steps you should be able to find and buy the right tax software.
