The basic edition sits mid-range in the UltraMixer range, above the Free and Home editions but beneath the Professional edition. The most significant advance for many over the Home version is the license allowing public performance using the software; a must for anyone taking their first steps from playing at home to performing for others, whether for free or for payment. The software will play many different audio formats including MP3, WMA, AAC and WAV being the most common. The auto mixer allows for a DJ needing to take breaks without pause in the music. The professional skins that come with the Basic and Pro editions give a cleaner more professional feel and a closer look to the old boards a DJ may have mixed on before.

It has a simple clean interface. The UltraMixer Basic download is simple and fast. There are enough features to start off in the industry. There are no annoying ads unlike the free version.
