Top new and enhanced features in Adobe Photoshop CS3
Nondestructive Smart Filters
Smart Filters are simply Photoshop filters that are applied nondestructively, and remain live and re-editable. That gives you the flexibility to experiment with different filters and settings, without having to back up and start over with the original image. You can edit the Smart Filter mask to precisely adjust the filter's effects on different areas of the image, and because Smart Filters are applied within the context of Smart Object layers, your designs are accelerated by now being able to scale, transform, and filter your images in an efficient, nondestructive workflow.
Quick Selection tool
Photoshop has always been distinguished by its powerful selection tools, which enable you to target editing and enhancements to precise areas of an image. Photoshop CS3 slashes the time necessary to choose image areas with the new Quick Selection tool. Now, instead of painstakingly outlining the image region you need to work on, you can simply paint the general area with the Quick Selection tool. Photoshop CS3 watches as you paint, and analyzes the image to complete the selection automatically. Expanding or contracting the selection is as simple as holding down modifer keys. And the Quick Selection tool can be used in conjunction with all of the other powerful selection tools in Photoshop. Whether it's simple or complicated image selections, or image area extraction for advanced compositing, the new Quick Selection tool is a real time saver. See here for upgrade options and pricing.
Refine Edge
The final touch to any image selection, the new Refine Edge feature is the simple, flexible way to modify the edge of a selection before you begin editing the area. With one-click access from the Options bar, or from the Select menu, Refine Edge lets you precisely smooth, feather, contract, or expand the current selection, with simple slider controls, in a single, intuitive dialog box.
Automatic layer alignment and blending
Automatic alignment and blending of image layers makes it especially easy to create advanced image composites-for example, combining the best parts of multiple images of the same scene into one "best" image. Now you can simply place multiple, related images on separate layers in one document, and then let Photoshop CS3 analyze the contents, moving and rotating the layers so they overlap as precisely as possible. Use the masking tools to reveal the areas you need from different layers to finalize the elements of the composite image. Then use automatic layer blending to seamlessly blend the color and shading into the final image. You could achieve the same highest-quality results in earlier versions of Photoshop, but the new automatic layer alignment and blending features get you there faster,

Amazing
I was getting my moneys worth out of the elements 2.0. This is a whole different experience as far as options and ease of use. The camera RAW is a great way to start the day and I love the many filters, black and white options, zillion options for layers and the ease of learning (just kidding a bit there on the learning part, you could spend a year learning about this and just be getting a good start.)There are so many options that I imagine many people just get their fav little ways of solving things and stay there. Try the High Pass sharpening technique for print output. I love this one!

Adobe Photoshop CS3
Adobe Photoshop CS3 is quite a resource hog! Older machines are definitely going to have issues running this software at a comfortable pace. I have been a long time fan of Photoshop. I am nowhere near expert status, however I do use quite a few of the Photoshop features for website building purposes. I really like the subtle differences in the new version regarding the layout of buttons and tools. It seems to make a bit more sense which increases the ease of use when engrossed in a larger photo project. Over the years I have noticed Adobe remaking their products without many features added, but with things simply moved around a bit. Regardless of how much I like the design of the CS3 I don't feel as though it was completely necessary and for most people would seem like a total waste of money. And as I mentioned before...if you have an older computer - beware!

Adobe Photoshop CS3
I myself have always been a huge fan of Photoshop, so once I heard a new one was coming out I just couldn't wait. I thought about all the possibilities that the new version could have. But once I got it I was sad to learn that it was almost exactly like CS2. So I asked myself, "did we really need another photoshop?" And the answer to my question is No, why spend all this money on a program that has really nothing new to offer. I will not completely dismiss this program for lack of quality it really is a great program, but I personally think that maybe they should have waited a few years to release a new version so they can have more to offer people, but otherwise this version is just like the rest.

Adobe Photoshop CS3
Another bloated, over-expensive, but lovable release of Photoshop. While not everyone will agree that Adobe's New Photoshop releases are really necessary, or even that much an improvement, everyone can agree that they're all prohibitively expensive. While I love the newest version, and all it's extra features, I find it to be just as much of a hog of system resources, and just as much a pain to operate without loads of practice, despite it's incredible power and versatility. I love Photoshop, and always have, but new versions are put out very quickly, and if you've got an older version, I'd stick with it a while, or just use a cheaper piece of software altogether. The few extras aren't worth the upgrade cost.

Adobe Photoshop CS3
You Have to Want It As expected, the newest version of Photoshop has everything I could want and more. But it comes at a cost. 1) Time Bells and whistles take time to learn. There is so much functionality; I had a hard time finding what I needed, though I like the new collapsible palettes. 2) Price The ticket price isn't cheap, though the new automation tools will save me time. My favorite is the Web Photo Gallery. Other new features I liked: Non-Destructive Editing with Smart Filters Remove filters off part of a picture Quick Selection with Refine Edge Easily select parts of a picture (like a person) If you can afford it and have the time, I would recommend this tool. 4 Stars

Adobe Photoshop CS3
Adobe Photoshop CS3 is the single most useful picture-editing and creating program. I am very impressed with its easy-to-use interface and thorough tutorials that cover every aspect of the digital editing process. As a complete novice to the world of Photoshop, I found these to be life saving. I felt that I could enhance my images a hundredfold in a matter of minutes. The added filters and visual effects allowed me to add a new look and level of clarity to my pictures. Old pictures, new pictures; it did not matter. Every picture put into Photoshop has the potential to become a work of art. The layer system is working better than ever, with crisper cuts and precise cropping to create new pictures that combine multiple files.
I thoroughly enjoy using Adobe Photoshop CS3. If I taught a technology course, I would definitely teach all of my students how to use (and to use) this program. Rating: 10/10 I was thoroughly pleased.

CS3 is the Next Big Thing Adobe Photoshop CS3 is the new mainstay for digital imaging. If you are an experienced digital photographer or graphic artist, this software will really take you places. CS3 features all of the tools that I loved in CS2, including the same tried and true keyboard shortcuts, with several noticeable improvements. Some of my favorite user-interface enhancements include new customizable panels, a black and white adjustment command, a new quick selection tool and an auto align layers feature, in addition to a significantly improved Camera Raw module.
A word of warning, though - Adobe Photoshop CS3 is not for beginners. The depth of features this software possesses combined with a few minor functionality issues make CS3 a bit complex for the novice digital artist. If you're looking for an upgrade from Photoshop 7, CS or CS2, however, there really is no question. The only choice left to be made is: do you go for the standard version, or for the pricier, more fully-featured extended version? How far would you like Adobe Photoshop CS3 to take you?
