Things We Like
For all those considering an upgrade to their operating system, look no further than Microsoft's latest offering, Windows 7. The new OS boasts to be Microsoft's best yet with super fast searching, easier browsing and sharing options and the opportunity to personalise your desktop and applications to make sure your PC works exactly the way you want it to.
Once you have completed your Windows 7 download you can get to grips with the new user-friendly taskbar, where Jump Lists offer you speedy shortcuts to your most used files or folders. Home Group helps you share files easily with others in your home network and the Action Centre gives you the power to control the nagging notifications and security options that have caused complaints in the past. The system also boasts some major performance improvements meaning you get faster sleep and resume, speedy search options and the ability to turn your PC into an entertainment centre.
Things We Didn't Like
Read any Windows 7 review and you will see that there are very few things to dislike about this OS. The main complaint remains about the installation procedure, as you have to cleanly install it as opposed to a simple in-place upgrade. Only a pain when you then have to re-install all your other applications. However, this generally means the system will run better in the long run. There are also questions about the lack of good security built in and many users have been annoyed at having to buy additional software.
