WinZip-Things We Like
It has an excellent high compression rate, which is increased by the new zipx format of files. There is a free trial WinZip download available so you can try it out before buying.
An easy drag and drop interface allows quick compression and there is a new and innovative compression to email facility. This allows you to grab a file, zip it up (with encryption) and email it straight away. There is no opening any other program or application necessary.
As any WinZip review will tell you, this software does everything you could want it to for most everyday users and is familiar and reliable. There is not really anything it cannot handle securely and speedily.
WinZip-Things We Didn't Like
It can be a little bit daunting for the new user, but there are plenty of online resources and video guides around. The new ribbon interface whilst useful will only run where you have Windows 7 or Vista. But, again this is not a show stopper
It is the highest price tool on the market at the moment. However, a trusted brand, officially approved by Microsoft for Windows does give piece of mind.
The basic program does not include the self-extract program. So, unless you pay extra, you cannot use the highest encryption level. But as the new zipx encryption can only be read by other users of the version 12 or Windows7, you have to ask if you really need this for home use anyway.

Advantages
Is very easy to use and makes it easy to transfer big files
Disavantages
Cannot be used on a PC/Laptop that does not have Winzip installed
